Letter to Editor - FDA Aspartame and CancerDate: Sun, 29 Apr 2007 13:18:52 -0400 Dear Editor: I was in New York when Dr. Soffritti released the new study and received the Irving J. Selikoff Award for his outstanding contribution to the identification of environmental and industrial carcinogens and his promotion of independent scientific research. It has only been given three times in history. The FDA put out that report on Friday to try and confuse the world, so that when he released the new study the public would just be getting the FDA news and think aspartame is safe. They were saying they didn't accept the original study which is one of the most prestigious ever done. Basically, they were protecting the manufacturers. The FDA are great spinmasters. This release was put out against the spin by the FDA: http://www.laleva.org/eng/2007/04/aspartame_fda_spins_news_on_second_cancer_study.html The seriousness of this new study shows that even at low doses aspartame causes cancer. It was also given to pregnant rats. First of all, since aspartame is an abortifacient and teratogen many times the baby doesn't live anyway if the mother is using aspartame, or if he survives can have birth defects. But in this study it shows in later life the baby grown up can get cancer. Dr. Russell Blaylock, neurosurgeon, explains in Excitotoxins: The Taste That Kills (www.russellblaylockmd.com ) that many times if the baby survives aspartame you won't see the problems until puberty. Dr. James Bowen author of "Aspartame Murders Infants" http://www.wnho.net/aspartame_murders_infants.htm says in this report even if the baby survives it may have heinously damaged DNA for generations to come. H. J. Roberts, M.D., who wrote the medical text, Aspartame Disease: An Ignored Epidemic, www.sunsentpress.com has chapters on what this toxin does in pregnancy and to our children. It is no wonder 1 in 150 is autistic. The study also showed mammary tumors like it did in original studies, as well as brain tumors. In fact, we are taking aspartame brain tumor cases for litigation in New York and New Jersey. The FDA tells the world its safe when all their records show it isn't and causes cancer. PLEASE, get the truth to the public, not this propaganda. Or publish this letter. I might mention that Dr. Soffritti is the author of more than 160 publications and serves as an expert for working groups at the International Agency for Research on Cancer in Lyon, France and the National Toxicology Commission of the Italian National Institute of Health. In 2001, Dr. Soffritti was named Secretary General of the Collegium Ramazzini. He is a teacher of Industrial and Environmental Carcinogenesis for the Specialization Schools of Oncology at the Universities of Turin and Bologna and was recently named adjunct Professor at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York where he just released the new study. Morando Soffritti, M.D., is the Scientific Director of the European Foundation for Oncology and Environmental Sciences "B. Ramazzini" (ERF) in Bologna, Italy, the site of one of the world's largest and longest existing programs of carcinogenicity bioassays. This institute is so world renowned, and the studies so prestigious that the FDA and the aspartame manufacturers are doing everything they can to fight the truth. The FDA has caused great shame on this country for betraying the public trust and giving their loyalty to the pharmaceutical and chemical industry. There are safe sweeteners to use like Just Like Sugar which can be bought in Whole Foods and Wild Oats. If safe sweeteners can be made like this, why would people want to use such a deadly poison. It's genetically engineered in E. coli bacteria. Dr Bill Deagle who saw aspartame being made said they are vats of toxic sludge that is pressed into a white powder.
